I started my period this week. When it is that time of the month I crave sugar bad. While I am having cravings they are not as strong as they normally would be and they are not for anything specific. It seems to be more of a snack craving and less about sugar.
My energy levels are normally VERY low during the week as well but yesterday was the only day I was tired and sluggish and the weather/end of the week may play a part in that as well.
I still have not decided what to do when this challenge is over. Most meals I make I can easy do without added sugar (using brands of tomato sauce and broth that do not have sugar) but there are a few that do. Some foods I have to decide if its worth it. Ketchup for instance has between 3 and 4 grams of sugar for 1 tablespoon of ketchup! I know I use more than a tablespoon on my burger..probably two tablespoons and more if I have fries. BBQ sauce is another although I have that less than ketchup.
The 0 Sugar Diet book has been a great help. He recommends that if you are eating something with added sugar that you need to make sure the fiber content is higher as that helps with the sugar effects.
My big decision will be sweets. Do I avoid them for the rest of my life? Do I say only on special occasions (and then what constitutes a special occasion). once a month, once a week? Can I do any of that? Am I doomed to going back to wear I was before all this started?
